'HARD MEN': A gang of 10 teenagers surrounded a man on a bus, attacked him and tried to steal his mobile phone
POLICE have issued images of a gang of Black thugs who surrounded a teenager on a bus and punched him.
At about 9.35pm on Tuesday, 9 March 2010, the 18-year-old victim was sitting on the upper deck of the number 201 bus travelling from Hyde to Manchester.
A group of around 10 teenage boys then boarded the bus on Hyde Road, outside Tesco, and sat down around him.
Three of the offenders then tried to talk to the victim before they surrounded him and tried to steal his mobile phone. One of them punched him in the stomach.
The victim then got up and left the bus near the Manchester Apollo.
He was uninjured but left extremely shaken by his ordeal.
The offenders were all teenage boys. One was around 5ft 6in tall with a shaven head and wearing an all black tracksuit with red stripes down the side. Another had short hair, was about 5ft 8in tall with a medium build and wearing grey jeans.
PC Rhonda Sanson, of the Longsight Volume Crime Team, said: “This group preyed on this poor lad because he was on his own.
“They clearly thought they were big tough men, but I can assure them that what they did was actually cowardly and pathetic.
“We have issued good quality images of some of the offenders and am confident that people will know at least some of them.”
