Woman raped in Pendleton

A 27-year-old woman was raped in Pendleton.

The victim had been out in Manchester city centre on Saturday 10 October 2009 and a taxi took her to Salford during the early hours of Sunday 11 October.

Believing she did not have enough money to pay the fare, the taxi driver told her to get out of the car.

She made her way to a petrol station, which is believed to be on Cromwell Road, Pendleton, where she was approached by two white men, who had Eastern European accents.

They told her she could go to their flat on Gerald Road and she went with them.

One of them men raped her inside the flat.

She managed to leave and was given a lift by a passing motorist to a friend’s house, from where she called police.

The offender is described as being around 6ft tall, of stocky build and aged in his mid-30s. He has light brown hair, which is short but receding. He is also described as having a square face and spotty skin. He was wearing a white T-shirt and light blue jeans.

Detective Sergeant Julie Connor, of Salford CID, said: “This woman has been left distraught by what has happened to her.

“I’m appealing to anyone who may have seen these two men in the Cromwell Road area between the times of 2am and 6am.

“You may have thought nothing of it, but it is vital you call us with any information you have as we need to find this offender.

“I’d also appeal to the taxi driver and the driver of the car who gave the victim a lift to her friend’s house to contact us.”

Anyone with any information should call Salford CID on 0161 856 5351 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
