Police need help tracing rape suspect

POLICE want to trace a man charged with rape who failed to attend court.

Mohamed Alwani, 33, of no fixed address was charged with the rape of a girl under 16 years of age on Friday 2 January 2009.

A trial date was set for Tuesday 28 July 2009, however Alwani did not attend court.

Detective Constable Neil Wilson of Salford CID said: “Alwani was charged with the offence but did not turn up for his trial.

“We have tried a number of ways to trace him but now we need the public’s help.

“If you recognise Alwani or know his current whereabouts please get in touch.”
