Gunmen hijack car

ARMED thieves have stolen a car at gunpoint in Reddish.

Shortly after 7pm on Monday 19 October 2009, a 26-year-old man parked his car outside the Ash Hotel on Manchester Road, Reddish.

The driver’s friend had just got into the front passenger seat when two other men got in the back and threatened the driver at gun point.

The men sitting in the front fled and the offenders drove off in the car, a grey Toyota Avensis.

One of the robbers is described as being of mixed race, in his early 20s and was wearing a black T-shirt and bottoms.

The second offender is described as black, in his early 20s and dressed in dark clothing.

Detective Constable Bryn Reeves, of Stockport CID, said: “The victim had a gun pointed directly at him and is understandably upset at what has happened.

“The use of a gun and the threat of violence used by the robbers proves they are dangerous and I would urge anyone who may have seen what happened to come forward.

“I am also keen to hear from anyone who knows the current whereabouts of the car to come forward.

“All information will be treated in strict confidence.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Stockport CID on 0161 856 9840, or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
