Amran Khan murder witness appeal

GREATER Manchester Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses one month after the murder of Amran Khan in Oldham.

Amran, 29, died at the Royal Oldham Hospital in the early hours of Saturday 19 September 2009. He had a wife and two young daughters, aged one and four years old.

He was shot at about 10.30pm on Friday 18 September 2009 at his home on Nugget Street in Glodwick.

Twins Brett and Jordan Francis, 26, both of Birch Avenue, Oldham, areĀ  charged with murder and have been remanded in custody to await trial.

One month after Amran’s death, detectives are continuing to appeal for witnesses and are particularly keen to speak to anyone who saw a BMW being driven erratically at about the time of the shooting to come forward.

Officers will be in the area on Friday 23 October 2009, to reassure residents they are continuing to investigate Amran’s murder and encouraging witnesses to come forward.

Senior Investigating Officer Detective Chief Inspector Pete Marsh said: “Although we have charged two people, we believe other people were involved in this incident and our inquiries are still ongoing and we are continuing to do everything we can to find out what happened on the night Amran was killed.

“I would appeal to anyone who has information to come forward and speak to us. “All information will be treated in the strictest of confidence and if you want to remain anonymous then you can call Crimestoppers.”

Anyone with information is asked to call the Major Incident Room on 0161 856 4711 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
