Dealer jailed after selling drugs to cops

RED HANDED: Rhoden sold heroine and cocaine to undercover police officers

A MAN has been jailed after he was caught selling drugs to undercover police officers.

Lloyd Oliver Rhoden, 43, of Pickford Court, Old Trafford, pleaded guilty to supplying class A drugs at Manchester Crown Square Crown Court.

He was sentenced to four years in prison Tuesday 19 January 2010.

Rhoden was caught after he agreed to sell drugs to undercover officers during an operation targeting drug dealers on the Metropolitan division.

He supplied an undercover officer with nine wraps of heroin and cocaine over the course of four separate drug deals in March 2009.

Sergeant Tony Lea, of GMP’s drug enforcement unit, said: “Rhoden will not be the last drug dealer to be caught by undercover officers.

“I hope it sends a clear message not only to other offenders but to the local community too that we will continue to work hard to reduce drug dealing and the massively detrimental affect it has on people.

“I want drug dealers to understand that we use a vast array of tactics to bring them to justice and, next time they hand over drugs for cash they could be dealing with an undercover officer.”

Anyone who has any information about drug dealing in their area is encouraged to come forward and speak to police.

People can report concerns to police on 0161 872 5050 or through Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
