Gay Jews host Holocaust Memorial Day event

GAY JEWS from Manchester took part in this year’s Holocaust Memorial Day with a special film event.

According the The Jewish Chronicle, Keshet, a group for lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, intersex, and questioning Jews and their friends in the North West, organized the event which showed a documentary and hosted a discussion.

“It is a really important day in both the gay and Jewish calendars as it is the day where we remember atrocities done to both groups from the same source,” organiser Suzy Schneider said.

The documentary ‘Gad Beck’ told the story of a gay German Jew who led an underground resistance group in Berlin.

Elsewhere in Greater Manchester civic services were hosted in Bury, Salford, Trafford, Rochdale, and Wigan.

The Imperial War Museum and the Manchester Jewish Museum also hosted special ceremonies.
