Second arrest for Muslim grave vandalism

POLICE investigating the vandalism of Muslim graves in South Manchester have made another arrest.

A 16-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of racially aggravated criminal damage and has been bailed until 10 March 2010 pending further inquiries.

Earlier this month a 22-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of racially aggravated criminal damage and was bailed until 11 March 2010 pending further inquiries.

Officers are investigating three incidents at Southern Cemetery in October and November 2009, when several headstones were pushed over and vandalised.

Inquiries are ongoing, and police are continuing to appeal for information. Anyone who can help is asked to call police on 0161 856 6151 or call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
