E-fit released of gun-wielding mugger

ROBBER: This man held a gun to the throat of a woman and asked her for cash while he burgled her home

GREATER Manchester Police have released an E-fit of a man who held a gun to a woman’s throat during a robbery in Oldham.

Sometime between 8pm and 8:30pm on Sunday 21 February 2010, the victim was at home in her flat on Manchester Road, Chadderton, when a man confronted her in her living room.

The victim began to scream for help when the offender produced a handgun and held it to her throat. He then followed her into her bedroom and told her: “I want money, I want money.”

The victim handed over some cash and jewellery before fainting during a struggle. She came round and the offender had gone.

The offender, who is described as black, between 40 and 50 years old, about 6ft 2in tall of heavy build with a flat nose. He had a Jamaican accent.

Detective Constable Paul Cockburn, of Oldham CID, said: “This was a very frightening experience for the victim, who was alone in her home with two young children asleep upstairs when this man threatened her at gunpoint – he clearly has no regard for other people.

“I would urge people to read the description and look at the image and if you have any suspicions whatsoever about who is responsible I would urge you to get in touch.

“To be confronted in your own home in such a way is rare and I would like to reassure residents we are doing all we can do identify the offender.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Oldham CID on 0161 856 8951, or the independent charity, Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
