Woman sexually assaulted in Stocky car park

GREATER Manchester Police are asking the public to help find the black man who sexually assaulted a blonde woman in a Stockport car park.

The victim, 31, had been out with friends in the town centre and at 2.10am on Saturday 13 March 2010, she left Cobden’s pub on the A6 Wellington Road South.

She walked through a car park near to the town hall, known as Loonies Court when she was attacked.

She was pushed to the ground and then seriously sexually assaulted.

The offender is described as being aged around 25, about 5ft 5ins tall
with shaved black hair. He was wearing a cream top.

Police are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

Detective Sergeant Julia Bowden said: “The victim was speaking to a few people in the area that night and they may not have realised at the time that they could be witnesses, so if you were in the area between 2am and 3.30am that morning, please contact us.

“It may jog your memory that the victim is white and has very blonde hair.

“I’d like to reassure people we’re doing all we can to find who is responsible, but if anyone has any information, they must call us.

“I’d also like to remind women to take precautions for their own safety.

“If you’re out for the night, don’t make your way home by yourself. But if you must, ensure you book a taxi with a reputable firm and let someone know what time you’ll be home and stick to busy, well lit, areas.”

Anyone with any information should call Stockport CID on 0161 856 9680 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
