Stocky meeting talks disabled access

LOCAL residents are invited to attend the next meeting of the Stockport Disability Transport and Access Forum to discuss accessibility issues.

The meeting takes place at Stockport Town Hall on Wednesday 14 April  2010 between 2 and 4pm in Meeting Room 1 which is fully accessible.

On the agenda for the meeting are blue badge parking and the Children and Young People’s Disability Partnership.

Stockport Council works closely with the Forum to promote an inclusive environment for residents and to ensure that no-one is excluded from public life because of accessibility issues due to their disability.

At the meetings, which take place on the second Wednesday of each month, residents may wish to discuss problems or suggest improvements on an number of disability access issues including blue badge parking, dropped kerbs, road maintenance, community transport, and other community access improving ideas.

A Stockport Council spokesman, said: “By attending these meetings residents with accessibility issues have an opportunity to make their thoughts known and suggest improvements that could make a real difference to where we live and how we travel around Stockport.”

Further forum meetings are due to take place on 12 May, 9 June, 14 July, 11 August, and 8 September.
