McGlynn breaks her own world record

A PARALYMPIC champion has broken her own world record at the UCI Para-Cycling World Championships in Manchester.

Aileen McGlynn, who has already won two paralympic gold medals, has now added the world title to her trophy cabinet by smashing her own world record.

The cyclist sped to victory at the Manchester Velodrome on Saturday 7 November 2009 with time of 1.09:054 minutes in the B&VI individual pursuit.

McGlynn, who was accompanied by long-term bike partner Ellen Hunter, beat her Beijing 2008 gold medal-winning time by 0.12 seconds.

Sarah Storey completed a triumphant British performance on Friday night by bagging a gold in the LC1 3000m individual pursuit.
