Man charged for Asghar murder

SORELY MISSED: Asghar was stabbed in a Manchester city centre flat and died two days later

AN OLDHAM man has been charged with the murder of Zhen Asghar.

Haashim Us Salaam, 20, of Werneth Hall Road, appeared at Manchester City Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 18 March 2010 to answer the charges against him.

Asghar, 18, of Mallowdale Crescent, Bolton, was injured at a flat near the Printworks, Manchester, on Monday 21 September 2009.

He was stabbed several times as he celebrated at an Eid party at the flat and died two days later on Wednesday 23 September 2009.

Twenty-two people were arrested on suspicion of violent disorder and have been released without charge.

Asghar’s funeral took place on Tuesday 29 September at New Madina Mosque (also known as Russell Street Mosque) in Bolton.
